Bring the entire family as VivaFest! and the San Francisco Symphony present the fifth annual Day of the Dead community concert celebrating Latino culture. Narrated by acclaimed writer and director Luis Valdez, the father of Chicano theater in the U.S., this special performance will feature outstanding artists from all over the Bay Area and beyond, including the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra performing Copland’s El Salón México and Moncayo's Huapango, Los Lupeños de San José dance company presenting the enchanting movements and beautiful colors of traditional Mexican Ballet Folklórico, acclaimed Mexican artists Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán performing beloved Mariachi hits, and the Grammy-winning San Francisco Symphony Chorus. Arrive at 1pm for pre-concert festivities in the Davies Symphony Hall lobbies, including cinnamon infused Mexican hot chocolate and pan de muerto, face painting and paper flower making, and a colorful art exhibition celebrating the unique tradition of Día de los Muertos.
