Remember, the Bay Bridge will be closed this weekend from Thursday night through Tuesday morning at 5 am, so traffic in Marin, especially on 101, is expected to be adversely affected.
Saturday, September 5
- The Sausalito Art Festival, the West Coast's ultimate art experience, returns this Labor Day weekend. Browse over 20,000 works of art, and take in top name entertainment, performances for children (including Marin's own Tim Cain), gourmet food and wines. $20 general ages 13–61, $15 seniors 62+, $5 juniors 6–12, free for children under 6. Weekend pass for all three days is $30. The festival takes place from 9 am to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday and 9 am to 5 pm Monday. More information: www.sausalitoartfestival.org
- Learn the basics of salt water fishing at Paradise Beach Park in Tiburon, Saturday from 8 am to noon. A ranger will instruct kids about salt water fishing, and a limited number of poles and bait will be provided on a first-come, first served basis, courtesy of the Department of Fish and Game. Meet at the fishing pier at the park, located at 3450 Paradise Drive. $8 parking fee. Fishing license required for participants 16 and up when fishing from the shore, not from the pier. - Sacramento's 10th Annual Gold Rush Days will take place over the Labor Day weekend on Saturday from 11 am-7 pm. More than 200 tons of dirt will be dumped on the streets of Old Sacramento as the annual festival "turns back the clock," transforming Sacramento's historic district into a scene straight out of the 1850s.
