Marin Playground Profile: Piper Park in Larkspur

September 18, 2017

Located in the heart of Central Marin, Piper Park is a 2.2-acre oasis of fun for the whole family. With a newly renovated playground, lovely wooded setting along Corte Madera Creek, numerous sports fields, and views of Mt. Tam, it's the perfect place to spend the day playing and relaxing. It's also a popular spot with local families for kids' birthday parties.

Marin Playground Profile: Hal Brown Park at Creekside

July 24, 2017

Both my kids were born at Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae and subsequently had many checkups at the nearby pediatrician's offices, so we've been fans of Creekside Park, located right across from the hospital on Bon Air Road, for a long time. This large community park (26 acres) reopened in February, 2011 following extensive renovations. This is one of our all-time favorite playgrounds in Marin. If you haven't been, this is definitely worth a visit.

5 Reasons Everyone Should Try Orangetheory Fitness: A High-Energy, Heart-Rate Based Interval Workout

October 26, 2015

Orangetheory Fitness GreenbraeMarin Mommies presents a sponsored article from Orangetheory Fitness Greenbrae—Marin, opening at Bon Air Center in December.

Orangetheory Fitness Greenbrae—Marin will be the ninth location in the Bay Area. We will be at Bon Air Center (just to the right of Mollie Stone’s) and are planning our soft launch for early December. There are currently over 300 Orangetheory locations worldwide.

Orangetheory is built around the physiological concept of excess-post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). During EPOC, the body continues to burn calories at a higher rate (even though the workout is over). The goal of an Orangetheory trainer is to get each one of their class participants to work for 12–20 minutes at a rate of 84% or higher of their maximum heart rate, thereby producing EPOC.

Kids Can Learn Programming with MV Code Club

October 28, 2014

MV Code ClubIf you have a technology-minded kid who wants to explore the world of computers beyond just playing Minecraft and surfing the web, then check out the offerings from the MV Code Club, which just opened its second Marin location in Greebrae's Bon Air Center. Founded last year by Mill Valley software designer Douglas Tarr, MV Code Club offers boys and girls in 1st through 10th grade coding instruction in a fun and engaging environment.

The club made the decision to expand to Greenbrae when it realized that many families were travelling to Mill Valley from as far away as Fairfax and Novato to attend classes. At the club students can explore Scratch, Minecraft mods, HTML, javascript, 3D design, arduino, LEGO Mindstorm, Unity scripting, and more. MV Code Club locations feature 4:1 teacher-student ratios, Mac workstations, Makerbot 3D Printers, Oculus Rift VR, and the latest software and hardware.
