Easy Holiday Recipe: Peppermint Bark

In my opinion, peppermint should be the official flavor of the holiday season! This white chocolate peppermint bark candy is a holiday staple in our house, and is quick, delicious, and kid-approved. My kids love the fact that smashing up candy canes is part of this recipe.

Peppermint bark is really easy to make, and doesn't mess the kitchen up nearly as much as making cookies does. Feel free to omit the nuts or mix in something else that you think would be tasty. My mom makes hers with both the almonds and dried cranberries.

Ingredients

  • 2 12-ounce bags white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted (optional)
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candy canes
  • Parchment paper

Directions

Note: Kids can help with this recipe by crushing candy canes, if needed, and breaking the bark into pieces.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Melt white chocolate chips in a double boiler, stirring frequently, until all are melted. Remove from heat and add candy canes and almonds.

Pour mixture onto prepared baking sheet and spread evenly with a wooden spoon to your desired thickness. Put the pan in the refrigerator to cool for 20 minutes or until chocolate has hardened.

Remove from refrigerator and break into pieces. Enjoy!
