Get Crafty and Create Your Own Holiday Cards With Buttons

My kids have always loved to make their own cards for special occasions, and the holidays are no exception! This year, we made these cute cards using colored plastic buttons as decorations. Get different sizes of buttons and make Christmas trees, candy canes, snowmen, snowflakes, and any other design you can think of.

The results really are delightful, and they're easy enough for any child to make, with an adult's help, of course. Because you made the cards yourselves they are a neat keepsake craft, too.

To make these holiday cards, you'll need:

  • Letter-size card stock (we used green and red)
  • Colored buttons of various sizes (available at craft stores like Michael's)
  • Ribbon
  • White glue like Elmer's

To make your cards, fold card stock in half lengthwise. You can fold the paper along the edge of a ruler for a neat, straight fold if you like. Now, cut folded card stock in half. You should get two cards out of each sheet of card stock.

Glue buttons onto the front of each card in holiday patterns. You can see our Christmas tree and candy cane patterns in the photo, but the only limit is your imagination! Add bows made of thin cloth ribbon for a festive touch. That's all there is to it!
