Looking for holiday fun for the the little ones? Check out our list of fun Christmas and Hanukkah events in Marin and the North Bay that are perfect for families with young children. Enjoy puppet shows, story times, fairs and festivals, and even a chance to meet real live reindeer! Many of these events require RSVPs, so follow the links for more details and contact information.

  • Make Greeting Cards
    Mill Valley Library

    Sip apple cider and listen to seasonal tunes while you create one-of-a-kind greeting cards. We'll supply the cards, envelopes, and art supplies - you supply the creativity!

  • The Velveteen Rabbit
    Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco

    Bring the family for this beloved Bay Area holiday tradition. ODC/Dance enlivens Margery Williams’ classic tale of a well-worn nursery rabbit that becomes real. Told though music, dance and a powerful narrative, The Velveteen Rabbit celebrates the unique relationship between a little boy and his stuffed rabbit, and the enduring power of love.   • Reindeer Visit the BADM
    Bay Area Discovery Museum, Sausalito
    Saturdays & Sundays, December 2–23, 10 am–5 pm

    Come and meet Snowflake and Blizzard, two live reindeer that will be visiting BADM! Watch them roam about in Lookout Cove and learn from their experienced handlers about their diet, migration patterns and unique characteristics that have allowed them to thrive in extreme environments.   • Pixie Park Holiday Bake Sale & Photos with Santa
    Marin Arts & Garden Center, Ross
    December 9, 10 am–12 pm

    Come shop for delicious treats and beautifully presented homemade goods. These festively wrapped sweets make terrific gifts for variety of events. Each of our member is involved in the creation of the assortment of cookies, brownies, candies and gingerbread houses for sale. Bring you whole family and don’t miss: face painting,  photos with Santa and children’s cookie cecorating from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Event details.
  • A Holiday Magic Toy Box Tea 
    Falkirk, San Rafael

    Saturday and Sunday, December 9 & 10, seatings at noon & 3 pm
    The tea is an old-fashioned tour de force in the elegant Queen Anne Victorian Falkirk Mansion. Homemade tea sandwiches and sweets are served, along with tea, hot chocolate, and other beverages.     Come for tea and hot cocoa, finger sandwiches, holiday cookies, and fun with Le Petit Jardin! You and your little ones will enjoy tea service, traditional live holiday music, a fireside telling of the story of the first Christmas in English and French, and a professional photo seating!     Thanks to the generous sponsorship by Active 20-30 of Santa Rosa, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be flying in on a helicopter provided by Helico Sonoma around 11:00 AM. There will be free bags of goodies, a chance for kids to whisper their holiday wishes into Santa’s ear, an air slide and jumpee house, hot dogs and more... This free event is open to the public.   • Family Holiday Concert with the Little Folkies Family Band

  • Menorah Building Workshop
