Please tell us a little about yourself. What's your background, and how did you get started in your career?

I ran computer and video game sales at Disney for the west coast region until I left in 2001 to spend more time with my twin boys.  I got started in this carreer out of a need to create something that I couldn't find anywhere.

What inspired you to start designing swimwear? What makes your designs unique?

I was in Hawaii with my family on vacation in 2003 and didn't want to wear a bikini or one-piece bathing suit.  Out of frustration in not being able to find attractive boardshorts, I decided right there and then that I needed to create them myself.  My boardshorts have an inner-brief, so there is no need to wear a bikini bottom underneath.  They also have a zipper and snap closure, which is very rare, since most boardshorts have a Velcro and tie closure. These features make the boardshorts more streamlined and stylish, as well as more flattering.  The tankinis have shirring, so they flatter the waist, and I have two underwire top styles for full support.  Our rashguards come in solid colors with contrast stitching.  Most rashguards have a lot of graphics on them, but the simple solid colors make them more sophisticated. They also have UPF 50+ sun protection.

Do you have anything new you'd like to share?

Perhaps women feel fabulous because  they are running a successful business, they have just completed their first 5K, or maybe their personal life is in top shape. The fact is, true outer beauty starts with an inner confidence and ease, and that is the message that we are trying to communicate to women over 40. And, whether you are running to Stinson Beach or just chasing your kids around town when it's hot outside, we want people to feel fantastic both inside out. That's really the goal of our line.

What are your family's favorite things to do in the Bay Area?

Ride bikes, go to Stinson Beach, Napa, and Crissy Field, long hikes, and walks with our dog.

What do you love the most about living in Marin?

The beauty of the mountains and water all around, the small community feel, the way everyone who lives here seems to be into a healthy lifestyle. When I drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, I'm in awe of the beauty.  Every single time the kids are with me I say "do you know how lucky we are to live here?"  Now that they're older, they stop me in the middle and say "We know, we know Mom... We're so lucky to live here!!"
