Weekend Family Fun for April 18, 19 & 20

Friday, April 18

  • Breakfast with Enzo! presents a weekly family folk music sing-along for ages 0–5 with two different sets of music at 10 and 11 am at the Presidio Dance Theatre. Enzo will perform with his banjo, accordion, musical saw, guitar, and countless other instruments for a morning of singing and dancing. The cost is $5 a person.   • Bring the kids (ages 2–5) to “Let’s Recycle", this Friday from 10 am to noon at the Crissy Field Center. Help conserve our planet’s natural resources by recycling what we use. Read The Dumpster Diver, and then engage in a fun interactive outdoor game of Recycling Rangers. Return to the Gathering Room to make an art project out of recycled materials or make a mini-recycling bin to take home!   • Celebrate Earth Day at the Bay Area Discovery Museum and renew our commitment to building a safer, healthier and cleaner world for all of us with a variety of special activities that will connect your family to the wonders of our natural world. Saturday, April 19 10 am–5 pm Free with Museum admission! Join Rebecca Burgess, master weaver and ecological steward, for a native plant walk (11 am–noon) and a paper-making project (2–4 pm). Then take a Bay walk with senior science guide Eli Africa (3 pm). www.badm.org

  • Enjoy the vibrant music of ZunZun on Earth Day at the Discovery Museum. This award-winning group is well known for their songs about the different cultures and environments of the Americas. Their performance blends humor and fine musicianship with lots of audience participation. Singing in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, they accompany themselves on an assortment of instruments from around the world. Members $6, general $8.
  • Earth Stroll, An Earth Day extravaganza for the whole family will be taking place at Crissy Field from 11 am to 3 pm. Bring the whole family on an interactive fitness walk around Crissy Field guided by your very own Eco-Passport. Play eco-games, visit with live animals and make strides for a healthy planet and a healthy you at the many activity stations designed to help you connect with this little corner of the planet.   • Earth Day Work Day- Bring your whole family for a morning of restoration and clean-up on Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the shores of Blackie's Pasture at Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary.   • The Marinwood Morning School's Semi-Annual Children's Toy & Clothing Sale will be taking place on Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Marinwood Community Center in San Rafael. There will be toys, clothing, and baby items. They are located at 775 Miller Creek Road in San Rafael.
  • Find out What’s the Buzz? And why native bees are important to our gardens, our ecosystems, and our planet! Bring the family from 10:00 am to noon on Saturday to the Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary.   • The Marin Conservation Corps and state park officials will host an Earth Day celebration from 8 am to 3 pm on April 19 at Samuel P. Taylor State Park. Officials are looking for volunteers for the event. The day will begin with trail work and park restoration until noon, then finish with music, food and fun things to do for the children.   • Bring the whole family to Fishing in the City and live music at Scottsdale Pond on Saturday from 8 am to noon. The fishing clinics run a half hour and start at 8, 9, and 10 am. This free event is co-sponsored by the City of Novato, the State Department of Fish and Game, and the Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise. They will be providing the bait, tackle and rod. Anyone 16 years and older do need a fishing license. There will also be entertainment at the Scottsdale Pond Gazebo.   • Bring the family to celebrate Earth Day-Party for the Planet at the San Francisco Zoo on Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Help celebrate the earth and participate in fun animal awareness activities. A number of other green and earth-friendly organizations will be on hand with interactive displays so everyone can learn more about being a responsible eco-citizen.
