Family Activities for Mother's Day Weekend, May 10 and 11

Mother's Day kidFriday, May 9

  • Family Film Event at the Lark Theater will be showing Ice Age on Friday from 3:30 pm to 5 pm. This PG movie is set during the Ice Age, where a sloth, a saber tooth tiger, and a wooly mammoth come across a lost human infant and work very hard to return him to his tribe. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for kids. There will be special child “Snak Pak” included: small popcorn, fruit treat, and a water. The Lark Theater is located at 549 Magnolia Avenue in Larkspur. Advance tickets recommended because seating is limited.
     
  • Free E-Waste collection event at the The Village at Corte Madera in the gravel lot across from Nordstrom, on Friday, May 9 and  Saturday, May 10, from 9 am to 4 pm. Bring your electronic waste and get rid of it the right way by diverting it from the landfills to a proper recycling process!

Saturday, May 10

  • The 26th Annual Marin Human Race takes place this Saturday, May 10 at the Marin Center Fairgrounds and Lagoon. This event is the largest collaborative fundraising event in Marin that supports a variety of agencies. Bring the family to run, walk or cheer from the side and enjoy some of the following events: pancake breakfast, a dozen local bands and performing groups, refreshments, kids races, costume contest, community fair with games and activities (over 100 booths), and a family fun fair with a giant inflatable play land. Registration begins at 7:30 am; race begins at 8:30 am; kite races begin at 9:30 am; awards ceremony at 10 am. For more info, go to their website.

  • Bring your whole family to Blackie’s Pasture Workday, a morning of restoration and clean-up along the shore on Saturday from 9 am to noon. Appropriate for young children.   • Dance Palace Kids Musical Theater presents Once Upon a Shoe, Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, 3 to 5 pm, at the Dance Palace in Point Reyes Station. Mother Goose sadly announces to her children that they must leave their home and move to an old sneaker. To save the shoe, the children decide to put on a show. Will the children be able to save the shoe for Mother Goose or will they have to move to the old sneaker? More information: www.dancepalace.org

Sunday, May 11

  • West Point Inn on Mt. Tamalpais will be hosting a Mother's Day pancake breakfast from 9 am to 1 pm on Sunday. Guests must hike or bike to the inn; parking is available at Bootjack, Pan Toll, Rock Springs, and the East Peak parking lots. This is a really nice hike if you haven’t done it before. It’s not appropriate for babies or infants, unless they’re in a baby backpack. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children.   • Mother's Day BikeAbout will be taking place at the San Francisco Zoo on Sunday from 8:30 am to 10 am. Here's something mom is sure to enjoy on Mother's Day... an early morning bicycle ride followed by a relaxing continental breakfast! Bring the whole family along for the fun, or let mom stay home and sleep in! The cost: Zoo Members $25; all others $30; children piggy-backing on their parents' bikes $7.   • San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum is having a Spring Family Festival on Sunday, May 13 11-4 pm. Come out and celebrate Mother’s Day with the family at the museum.
