Free Chihulypalooza Weekend at the de Young Museum!

June 11, 2008

Dale Chihuly: Mille FioriThis weekend, June 14 and 15, San Francisco's de Young Museum is free to everyone, in celebration of the opening of their new exhibition, Chihuly at the de Young! The free weekend is sponsored by Target. In addition to the exhibition and the museum's permanent collections, there will be numerous performances and activities for families throughout the weekend, including hands-on art activities, live music, stilt walkers, circus arts performances, and industrial and fire arts demonstrations  by The Crucible, an Oakland based non-profit educational facility, on their Educational Response Vehicle—a repurposed 1960 International Harvester fire truck.

Since the Chihuly at the de Young exhibition is expected to be extremely popular, the museum will be issuing free timed tickets for the exhibition on Saturday and Sunday at the de Young admission desk on a first come, first served basis. There's a limit of four tickets per person. Even if you decide not to see the exhibition, it sounds like it will be a great weekend. The de Young is open from 9:30 am to 5:15 pm on Saturday and Sunday. For a full schedule of events and more information on the exhibition, visit the Chihuly at the de Young website: www.chihulyatthedeyoung.org.
