Friday, August 22

  • Marin Shakespeare Company presents Amadeus at 8 pm. General admission: adults $27.50 advance, $30 at the door; seniors $22.50 advance/$25 door; youth 18 and under are $15. Forest Meadows Amphitheatre at Dominican University of California, San Rafael. More information: www.marinshakespeare.org.
  • The North Bay Shakespeare presents A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Hamilton Amphitheater in Novato. Performances run from August 8–October 5. This Friday's performance will benefit Novato's School Fuel program. Performance starts at 7:00 pm. For more info, go to our article.

  • Film Night in the Park will be showing Ratatouille on Friday evening at 8 pm at Old Mill Park (300th block of Throckmorton Ave.) in Mill Valley. Suggested donation $6 for adults and $3 for children. For more info, go to www.filmnight.org.
  • Owls of Marin, a family fun educational presentation will be at the Marin Art & Garden Center on Friday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Learn about local owls, hear owl calls and see them in action. There is a $15 suggested donation for adults and $5 for children under 12 accompanied by an adult. This event is presented byThe Hungry Owl Project, a program of WildCare www.wildcarebayarea.org, a non-profit wildlife hospital and education center in San Rafael. Saturday, August 23

  • The 2nd Annual Tiburon Art Festival will take place on Saturday from 11:00 am-7:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am-6:00 pm on Historic Art Row at Main Street. There will more than 60 artists displaying their art, live music, children's entertainment and more. The cost is $5 per person and children 12 and under are free.   • Film Night in the Park will be showing Breaking Away on Saturday evening at 8:00 pm at Central Field  (Broadway & Bank) in Fairfax. Suggested donation $6 for adults and $3 for children. For more info, go to www.filmnight.org.
  • The 18th annual Cotati Accordion Festival features two days of nonstop accordion music to benefit local youth groups. Highlights include dance parties in the polka tent, numerous accordion-related vendors, and the annual "Lady of Spain" ring, including the releasing of the doves.   • The 14th annual Bodega Seafood, Art, and Wine Festival features an outstanding selection of seafood entrees, top quality juried art and crafts, great entertainment on 3 stages, and a large wine and microbrew tasting tent. Festival takes place at Watts Ranch on Bodega Highway. $12 adults, $10 seniors, $8 12–16, and kids under 15 are free. Saturday 10 am–6 pm and Sunday 10 am–5 pm. More info, go to their website.

  • James K at Playdate Café from 11 am to noon on Sunday.  James K is a wonderful entertainer for the entire family. The cost is $8.95 per kid, $2 for siblings; adults and infants are free.   • Experience the “Sounds of Summer”, as A Joyful Sound! chorus presents its end-of-summer final concert and picnic on Sunday, August 24, at 4 pm.   • Family entertainer Enzo Garcia performs at the Mill Valley Golf Course Clubhouse every Sunday from 10 am to noon. Enzo invites you, your friends, family, and neighbors to join him for a morning of genuine, heartfelt, sing-along family fun. He'll bring his banjo, accordion, guitar, musical saw, and other surprises. All you need are clapping hands, singing voices and dancing feet.   • The Civic Center Farmers' Market in San Rafael takes place Sunday from 8 am to 1 pm. They have lots of organically grown produce, breads, eggs, and fresh cut flowers. Live music by the Mad Maggies and That Man Fantastic. This farmers' market is a great one to take the kids to. If you haven’t been there yet, it’s located in the main Civic Center parking lot.
