Marin County Fair 2007

It’s that time again for the Marin County Fair at the Marin County Fair Grounds in San Rafael (off of highway 101). Children’s Day is Monday, July 2nd, so kids 12 and under are free. The dates and times of the fair are:

Dates: June 30, July 1, 2, 3, 4

Times: 11 am to 11 pm daily

Prices of a single day ticket are:

Adults $13
Senior Citizens 65 and older $11
Children Ages 4 to 12 $11
Children under 4 Free

All admission prices include the exhibits, entertainment, fireworks and rides. They accept Visa & Mastercard for admission. They will also have a Westamerica Bank ATM machine inside the fair’s main gate.

Special Admission Days:

  •  Saturday, June 30 is Marin Independent Journal Day. Look for a $2 off coupon in your Marin IJ.
  •  Monday, July 2 is Children’s Day. Children 12 and under are free.
  •  Tuesday, July 3 is Comcast Day. A $2 coupon will be sent to Comcast members in June.

Attractions:

  • Sea Lion Encounters: See these world famous sea lions in shows and demonstrations with Dr. Jenifer Hurley, direct from Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, at 12 noon, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm daily.
  • Hudson Vagabond Puppets: Direct for New York, larger-than-life puppets tell the Japanese folk tale The Silly Jellyfish–undersea fun for the entire family. Two shows daily at 3 and 5 pm. In the 800-seat Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium.
  • Aquatic Adventures: New interactive exhibit celebrating Marin County people and organizations who live, work and play around the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, in the Exhibit Hall.
  • 28 free carnival rides featuring 10-story Giant Ferris Wheel from Butler Amusements.
  • Fireworks show over the Lagoon nightly at 9:30 pm. The biggest and longest show ever.
  • The 18th Annual Creatures and Models Exhibit juried by wizards of Kerner Optical.
  • The 37th Annual National Short Film and Video Festival in the 300-seat Showcase Theatre at 5:00 and 7:00 pm daily.
  • Fun attractions for the entire family: Healthy Marin Partnership Pavilion, Public Safety Fun Zone, Jeremy the Juggler, and Rawhide Express Train.
  • Over 10,000 exhibits in Fine Arts and Crafts, Art Chairs, Cartoons, Photography, Bansai, Home Arts, Baked Goods, Junior Arts, Gardens, and Flowers.
  • Barnyard features farm animals, Hambone Express Pig Racing, Fur and Feathers Tent, Great American Petting Zoo, an exhibit by Marin Agricultural Land Trust. Plus: vaulting, Junior Dairy Cattle Show, Junior Horse Show, sheep dog trials, Junior Dairy Goats, Classic Beef Show and Horse Play Day.
  • Ben & Jerry’s Stage features popular contests: hip hop and break dance, dancing stars, poetry slam, fiddle, piano and “Star Search” performing arts competition.
