Relocating to Marin - which public schools are best?

We are considering a relocation to Marin from Chicago. We are looking at different cities in Marin, which have the best public schools where the real estate isn't too crazy expensive? Thanks!

Marin Schools

Most of the schools in Marin are excellent. The ones in the more expensive areas (Mill Valley, Tiburon, Kentfield, for example) are always really highly rated, but then it's crazy expensive.

As you move north real estate gets more affordable and you can still find great schools. You might consider the Marinwood neighborhood in the northern part of San Rafael—the Dixie School District there is really good. In Novato there are some really good elementary schools, too, including Pleasant Valley, San Ramon, and Rancho (although Rancho is an "essentialist" school that you have to apply for via a lottery).

Thank you!

Great! We have been looking at both San Rafael and Novato, your reply confirms what we were thinking. The neighborhood names are helpful, thanks!

Public School

The Dixie school district in San Rafael is Amazing! Take a look at homes in Marinwood and Lucas Valley. If you need a Realtor I have a great reference for a mom with kids in local schools. (my email is below)

Good Luck

You're welcome!

Sun Valley Elementary, in San Rafael's Sun Valley neighborhood, comes very highly recommended, too.
