I'm always on the search for kids' music that's more than your average Raffi-Barney-Wiggles stuff, so when I stumbled across the
Wee Hairy Beasties on
iTunes I was pretty excited. So were the kids, too, when they heard the music! Wee Hairy Beasties is a product of former Mekons punkers and subsequent alt-country gurus Sally Timms and Jon Langford, so they've got plenty of "coolness" credibility for parents who need that kind of thing.
In their debut CD
Animal Crackers, they
join forces with acoustic blues group Devil in a Woodpile to produce a collection of toe-tapping animal themed songs that combine elements of blues, country, early jazz, and pretty much anything else you can think of.
Songs include "Flies on My Taters", "A Newt Called Tiny", "I'm an A. N. T", and "Cyril the Karaoke Squirrel".

I found a

"Toenail Moon", directed by Timms, on
