Stop by the Station House Café for Family Dining in Point Reyes Station

One of our favorite West Marin dining spots is the Station House Café in Point Reyes Station. We don't always get to dine there, though, because it's a busy place—you usually have to wait for a table on weekends. We recently got a chance to swing by during the week for lunch, and it was a real treat.
The Station House Cafe is located on Point Reyes Station's main street, so you can't miss it. It serves up comfort food classics made from fresh, local, and organic ingredients for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's a great place to stop off for a hearty breakfast before you hit the hiking trails or the beach, or to unwind over lunch or dinner after a day at Point Reyes National Seashore. Their pretty comprehensive kids' menu offers selections like fish and chips ($6.50), noodles with butter ($5), grilled cheese ($5.50), a Niman Ranch frank and fries ($6.95), and a kid's cobb salad ($6.95).
On our last visit, my daughter opted for the Niman Ranch frank, while I had the daily special: a tasty pulled pork sandwich with fries and side of slaw that contained not only the expected cabbage, but radishes and apples, too. I'm a big cole slaw fan, so I know great slaw when I taste it. We also love their fish and chips ($15.95), burgers ($10.95–$14.95), New England clam chowder ($4.95 cup or $6.50 bowl), and their incredible desserts. We've never had a bad meal here.
Staff were helpful and courteous, and the dining room has a rustic ambience that's perfect for the West Marin setting. There's a bar area as well, and a garden patio for al fresco dining on warm days.
As I mentioned earlier, the Station House can get really busy on weekends and holidays, so either get there early or make reservations by calling (415) 663-1515. The Station House Café has fantastic fresh food, reasonable prices, and is family-friendly, so no wonder it's so popular.
The Station House Café is located at 1180 Highway One (Main Street) in downtown Point Reyes Station. They're open Thursday–Tuesday for breakfast (8 am–11 am), lunch (11 am–3:30 pm) and dinner (5–8 pm Sunday–Thursday, 5–9 pm Friday and Saturday). The Station House also offfers live music, featuring some of the Bay Area's finest musicians on Sunday afternoons.
