Art and Garden Camps
Weekly Camps offered June 18-August 10 We are pleased to bring back our week-long gardening & art programs for youth at the Landmarks Art & Garden Center located at 841 Tiburon Blvd. The Art & Garden Center boasts mature trees, shrubs and plants along with terraced, colorful flowerbeds and beautiful vista points; a perfect compliment to our programs! The program fees include all materials/supplies and trip fees (if applicable). Campers should bring water, lunch, sun screen and wear appropriate clothing for gardening/messy art projects.
Culinary Gardening:
This hands-on camp teaches kids about the joys of planting, tending, harvesting, and eating their very own fresh produce. Campers will work as a team to cultivate plots of tasty vegetables, fragrant herbs, and bright flowers. Learn to prepare delicious recipes using ingredients from the garden. From sowing seeds and growing sunflowers to making pesto and fresh lemonade, campers will discover and explore all the magic and wonder of gardening. Whether you're a newcomer or a returning gardener, grow with us this summer!
Ancient Arts:
Clay Creations & Magic Mosaics Learn techniques and applications of shaping and sculpting clay to create garden themed works of art! We will take our inspiration from the various gardens at the center and create exciting projects in hand building pots, vases, tiles, fired ceramics, earthenware, plant pouches, sculpture and more. Students will also discover the ancient art of mosaics using a variety of materials including crockery, tile, shells, etc. Students will experiment with various mosaic techniques and design a piece to take home.
Junior Gardeners:
This camp is for the beginner & seasoned gardener. We will learn to plan, plant & maintain our own plots. We will discover native plants, flowers, insects and the composition of dirt. Our master gardeners will also learn about soil, water and light and their impacts on our garden. Decorate your very own plant pots and pouches while you make friends and share your love of gardening.
Creature Feature Insects, worms and butterflies…oh my!
Join us as we explore the animals that inhabit our garden and how they help keep our garden healthy. We’ll learn about and plant our own butterfly garden and keep an ant farm. We’ll learn about native birds by bird watching and keeping a bird journal. Your camper will experience nature up close as you explore the garden, dig for worms, and make garden crafts. Through games, art, songs and stories we’ll uncover the dynamic relationship between our garden and the creatures in it.
Green Garden Is your garden green?
During this week-long program, we’ll learn about organic gardening and foster concepts like responsibility, sustainability and community. We’ll develop children’s roles as caretakers of the world around them and how they can be impactful right in their very own garden! They’ll learn the basics of recycling, composting and learn how to care for the garden while using their minds in creative ways through hands-on activities and exploration.
