Understanding Dyslexia - 2 Free Local Events on March 5th

Marin Mommies presents a sponsored article from North Bridge Academy which offers a premium education for dyslexic elementary aged students in Larkspur. To learn more, visit the school online at www.northbridgeacademy.org

People with dyslexia flip letters when they read. Wrong! Separating myth from fact is one of the first steps parents must do once they learn their child is dyslexic. Learning enough about dyslexia to effectively advocate for your child is critical to obtaining proper educational support and understanding how to set your child up for future success. Dyslexics can be as successful as anyone else. Fact.

Learn about what dyslexia is, how common it is, what neurological research shows about the how dyslexic brains function, how best to educate your child, and how to support their intellectual growth.

In Larkspur on March 5th, there will be two free events that will give you a wealth of information in one day:

10:30am-12:30pm – Corte Madera Library - Screening “The Big Picture” and panel discussion with professionals and parents of dyslexic learners. Click here http://dyslexia-ncbida.org/calendar/ to learn more

3-5pm – North Bridge Academy (110 Magnolia Avenue, Redwoods Presbyterian) – Presentation “Optimizing Learning Outcomes for Dyslexic Students” - this open house is an opportunity to learn about effective, research-based methods for teaching dyslexic students. Following the presentation, a tour of North Bridge Academy will be given.
