Kids and parents are invited for a magical morning of stories and crafts celebrating the fall season and, of course, Halloween. You will leave with tips for telling your own stories, and ideas for more projects to make together.

Our family program begins with a storytelling session:
“Green Wisdom: Stories of Spiders, Secrets of Survival” with master storyteller Beatrice Bowles. Laugh and shiver as you hear wild wonder tales starring spiders to celebrate our favorite autumn-in-the-garden holiday! Beatrice Bowles tells stories in schools, museums, and botanical gardens across the country and on radio and the internet. Her CD/audiobook, “Cloudspinner and the Hungry Serpent” won a Storytelling World honors award in 2015. Bea is also a dedicated gardener and artist.

After a short break, we will move to the crafts table to join artist and teacher, Anna Ryan, to create Leaf Wands together. Families are invited to explore numerous natural materials, as well as learn how to stitch, tape and embellish their wands in celebration of the magic of fall! Anna has been teaching art in classrooms, museums and studios for over 20 years, and still finds the most delight in creating art in gardens with her students and her family.”
