Ross Valley Nursery School has been educating Marin preschoolers since 1951. The school is committed to creating an atmosphere where learning is joyous, exciting, rewarding and fun. Our staff is composed of experienced teachers whose professionalism and love of children assure every parent the security of knowing their children are learning and well cared for in a nurturing environment. Our thoughtfully designed facility reflects our school’s play-based learning philosophy.

Only The BEST for Junior!
This place is a well oiled machine. The preschool teachers are fabulous and really know their stuff. Most have been here for years and are continually educated on current teaching philosophies and preschool education. I trust them wholeheartedly. Both my boys have attended here and truly... they will be a tough act to follow. Get on their list as early as possible but it's always worth a call as you never know what could come up.
Down side is there is no aftercare. School day is from 8:45am to 11:45 MWF or TTH. PreK is an afternoon program.
A Marin County Tradition

When my husband and I began the search for the perfect preschool for our son, I imagined an environment that would be warm, inviting, and filled with childhood charm! This school exceeded all expectations within the first few minutes of visiting. We immediately had those "warm, fuzzy" feelings you get when you know something is just right!
The highly experienced staff welcomed our family and treated our son like he was one of their own. It was such a relief to know that he was in the best hands and being well taken care of as well as having so much fun while at school. I wasn't surprised when I learned that several of the teachers had been students of RVNS at one point and that generations of families typically attend. The teachers have such warm hearts and a true passion for teaching.
The school is VERY clean and well organized. My sons first day of school was filled with smells of freshly made french toast for the kids. The kids go to either the art room, library, block room, "play office", reading loft, or the outdoor play area. They can even choose to help bake or cook. The activities are very well planned and thought out. My favorite part of the day is hearing all the new things my son learned that day!
When choosing a preschool, of course my son was the first priority. However, I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed every aspect of our time there as a family. The school provides classes and workshops for parents as well as fun, social gatherings. We have met some of our closest friends through the school! What a treat to be part of such a great community of teachers and parents!
Our oldest son was in the Senior class and Pre-K program and he blossomed in both! We now have our younger son just beginning Juniors and we are SO looking forward to the next three years at this wonderful school!

My family will always be grateful for their experience at The Ross Preschool. Both my children (now a K & 3rd grader) graduated and were fully ready for the challenges of elementary school. The school focused on character development, helped my youngest navigate her emotions, and ultimately helped my family to raise some wonderful kiddos. The play spaces in downtown Ross was magical. There was so much beauty and nature and lots of space for the kids to run around.
