Marin Waldorf School's early childhood program offers a nurturing environment filled with rhythm and wonder. Structural Overview of the Early Childhood Department
The Early Childhood Department at Marin Waldorf School offers programs for children from age 3 months in our baby classes up to 6 years old in our mixed-age kindergarten. Baby & Parent/Toddler Classes
The classes are taught by Brenda Novick in her beautiful classroom and on the preschool play yard. Parents attend along with their children. Baby classes are for children 3 months to 1 year and are held one day per week from 9:00-11:30am. The parent/toddler classes are for children up to 3 years and are held one or two days per week from 9:00-11:00am. Fall and Winter sessions run 13-14 weeks and the Spring session runs 6 or 7 weeks. MWS offers two preschool classrooms: the Buttercup class led by Leanne Tarantino and the Sunflower class led by Sylvia Donati. Preschool is available for children who are 2 years and 9 months to 4 years old and options exist for 2, 3, or 5 days per week. Preschool follows the school calendar year and starts at 8:30am with dismissal at 12:45pm, with aftercare options until 3:05 and 5:20 pm. We maintain a teacher student ratio of 1:8 and both preschools have trained teacher assistants. Summer camp is also available for the preschool-aged child.
MWS offers two kindergarten classrooms.: the Hollyhock class led by Melinda Martin and the Morning Glory class led by Adriana Livingston. Kindergarten follows the same schedule as preschool with a little bit earlier start time at 8:10 am, dismissal at 12:45 pm, and aftercare options until 3:05 pm and 5:20 pm. It is a two-year, mixed-aged program for children ages 4 to 6. We maintain a teacher student ratio of 1:12 and both kindergartens have trained teacher assistants. A summer camp is also available for the kindergarten-aged child.
