Free Summer Outdoor Concerts in Marin 2022

One of my favorite things about summer in Marin are the free outdoor concerts that take place throughout the county. There's something about the warm weather and the long days that make events like these really special. While some of our annual favorites are still on hiatus, there are still plenty that are back this summer for families to enjoy.

Pack a picnic and your folding chairs and check out a free summer concert near you. Here's our list of events taking place this summer. If we've missed your favorite, please let us know.

Corte Madera

• Summer Sunday Concerts at Piccolo Pavilion
  Old Corte Madera Square
  Sundays, 5–6:30 pm, June 12–August 28

  Bring the family to the free outdoor summer concerts at the Old Corte Madera Square. Bring lawn chairs, a blanket and a picnic and enjoy the amazing line-up of fine local bands including the Barry "The Fish" Melton Band, Mitch Woods and His Rocket 88's, Bubba's Taxi, A.J. Lee & Blue Summit, Danny Click, and the Corte Madera Town Band. More info.

Mill Valley

• Concerts on the Plaza
  The Depot Plaza, Downtown Mill Valley

  Mill Valley's Concerts on the Plaza series present fantastic acts from the Bay Area and beyond in their annual outdoor summer series. 2022 season details TBA. Location: The Depot Plaza, 87 Throckmorton Avenue, Mill Valley. More info.

• Creekside Fridays
  Tam Valley Community Center
  Fridays, June 24, July 8 & 22, August 5

  Free concerts take place 6:30–8 pm; doors open at 6 pm. Featuring Cole Tate, Marble Party, Juke Joint, and Void Where Prohibited. Location: 203 Marin Avenue, Mill Valley. More info

Novato

• Concerts on the Green
  Novato City Green
  Saturday, June 3 & 17, July 15 & 30, 5–7 pm

  Novato's free summer concert series features acts like the Element Brass Band and the SoulShake. Location: Novato City Green, 901 Sherman Avenue (adjacent to Novato City Hall). More info.

• Rock the Block
  Downtown Novato
  Thursday, June 23 & September 15, 6–9 pm

  Celebrate the beginning and end of summer with two free outdoor concerts in downtown Novato, featuring Tainted Love Band and more. Location: Grant Avenue, downtown Novato. More info

• Hot Amphitheater Nights
  Hamilton Amphitheater
  Saturday, June 25, July 30 & August 27, 5–7 pm

  Gather your friends and family, grab your lawn chairs and picnic blankets, and Join Novato Parks & Recreation for this free outdoor concert series held at the Hamilton Amphitheater in Novato. Acts this season are Neon Velvet, the Freestone Peaches, and the Bluebyrdss. More info.

San Anselmo

• Live on the Avenue
  Creek Park
  Fridays & Saturdays starting June 3

  Live music returns to San Anselmo's Creek Park as part of Live on the Avenue, Fridays and Saturdays beginning June 3, 2022. Acts include Wonderbread 5, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Los Boleros, the Hangman's Daughter, and more. More info

Sausalito

• Jazz & Blues by the Bay
  Gabrielsen Park
  Fridays, June 3–August 26, 6:30–8 pm

  The City of Sausalito Park and Recreation Department presents Jazz and Blues by the Bay in Gabrielson Park. The entire lawn will be available for lawn seating so bring a (low) chair, some friends and come enjoy the music!! The 2022 lineup includes Lavay Smith, the Zydeco Flames, and Eugence Huggins and Friends. More info.

Tiburon & Belvedere

  Bring the family to enjoy pedestrian-only weekends on Main Street in downtown Tiburon. Live music will take place on Saturday afternoons and during Sunday brunch. 2022 lineup and times TBA. More info.

• Belvedere Concerts in the Park
  Belvedere Park
  Sundays, June 19, July 17, August 14 & September 4, 4:15 pm

  Belvedere's free concerts in the park return for their 25th anniversary season. Acts include the Billy Martini Show, Tom Rigney and Flambeau, Contigo, and Super Diamond. More info.

San Francisco

• Stern Grove Festival
  San Francisco
  Sundays, June 12–August 14, 2 pm

  The Stern Grove Festival is back! This popular, admission-free concert series in a beautiful outdoor amphitheater is still totally free but advance reservations are required. Enjoy performances by Cat Power, Too $hort, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taj Mahal, Tower of Power, the San Francisco Symphony, and more! The season culminates with the Big Picnic, featuring Phil Lesh & Friends, on August 14. More info.
