Mompreneur: Misa Phutsangdee, Miss Go To Girl

Misa PhutsangdeeWhen Marin mom Misa Phutsangdee was rejected from grad school, rather than be disappointed, she used the experience to draw on her diverse range of job experience, become a "mompreneur," and start her own business, Miss Go To Girl Enterprise. We caught up with Misa and asked her a few questions about her and her startup.

Please tell us a little about yourself. What's your background?

I have been married to my husband, Charlee, for five years. We have the most adorable four-year-old, Micah, AKA "Misa Junior" because he is a carbon copy of his mother! I graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in communication studies as well as graduating from C.L.I.B.C. with a B.A. in family counseling. I absolutely loved the communications program and wanted to continue my learning experience at SFSU. After finishing both degrees, I applied for graduate school. Twice. After the second year of anticipating the letter, I told myself that if I read, "We regret to inform you…" one more time, then God must have better plans for me than the master's program. And so, Miss Go To Girl Enterprise began...

How did you come up with the idea for your business?

Throughout my years in college, I worked various jobs. I've done everything from being a nanny, personal assistant, paralegal, assistant to account manager, dance instructor, and sales and marketing coordinator to a barista, waitress, preschool teacher, and event planner. Let' s just say I was trying to figure out what career choice I wanted while trying to accommodate my class schedule.

As I worked in private homes, I noticed there was usually a full staff that was needed, either on a permanent or temporary basis. Many of these homes needed a nanny, housekeeper, gardener, personal assistant, dog walker, academic tutor, event planner, etc. However, they did not know who to call when in need for in-house help. There are several agencies that help you find a nanny, but the reality is that these busy homes need more help than just a nanny. Essentially, I saw a need and I created a solution: Miss Go To Girl Enterprise, your one-stop referral center for all your staffing needs.

What's the most fulfilling thing about what you do?

There is no greater satisfaction than pleasing my clients. As a busy mother myself, I know what it is like to have a never ending to-do list. Whether it is keeping your home in order or planning your event, you can rest assured that you can enjoy your daily life while Miss Go To Girl Enterprise takes care of those extra responsibilities.

What do you like best about living and working in Marin?

I am a die-hard Marinite. I love the community, the people, the beauty, and the ambitious energy!
