Friday, September 5

  • Marin Shakespeare Company presents Much Ado About Nothing at 8 pm. Special event: Pay What You Will: donations of amount accepted at the door. Forest Meadows Amphitheatre at Dominican University of California, San Rafael. More information: www.marinshakespeare.org.
  • Marin Kids Consignment will be having a  sale at Playtime Safari from 5 to 8 pm. Get some gently used clothing for the kids for the perfect price. Bring the kids while you shop for some play and a movie. The Little Mermaid will be showing at 5:10 pm. There is never an entrance fee to shop.   • The 13th Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival takes place on Saturday from noon to 5 pm at Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco. Be decadent in your own sweet way at the 13th Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival, a benefit for Project Open Hand.   • Meet the Marin Girls Chorus on Saturday from 10 am to noon at First United Methodist Church in San Rafael. All girls (ages 6-15) who love to sing are invited to share a morning of song and dance with the Marin Girls Chorus!   • Library Book Sale on Lawn on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm at the San Rafael Public Library. Get ready for a new school year with children's books, reference volumes, teachers' materials, classics, music, art, history, CDs and DVDs. Proceeds go for library programs and materials. The San Rafael Public Library is located at the corner of E Street and Fifth Avenue in San Rafael.
  • Bay Area Pet Fair and Adoptathon, the largest dog friendly event in California will be taking place at the Marin Center on September 6 and 7. Features include a multiagency adoptathon, The Other Dog Show for mutts and rescue dogs, and interactive activities for you and your dog. 10 am to 5 pm. Admission: adults $7, kids 6–12 and seniors 55+ $5, kids 5 and under free, dogs $1 or bring a can of pet food to donate to animals in need; family pack (2 adults and 2 kids) $20.   • Star Wars is coming to Pottery Barn Kids on Saturday, September 6 from 10 am to 1 pm! Meet your favorite Star Wars characters in Pottery Barn Kids at The Village in Corte Madera. Children will get 20 to 30 seconds to meet each different character. Pick up free advance tickets at Pottery Barn Kids. This will definitely be a busy event.
  • The Sonoma Springs Bicycle Festival will take place in Sonoma at Depot Park on Saturday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Join bicycle enthusiasts, pedal pushers at Depot Park in Sonoma for a salute to cycling as a viable, health-promoting and fun mode of transportation. Features of the Festival: Gear giveaways, safety education, a bike raffle, commuting tips, activities for kids, food and live music. This is a free event.   • Family entertainer Enzo Garcia present Breakfast with Enzo at the Mill Valley Golf Course Clubhouse every Sunday. There will be two different sets of music at 10 and 11 am. Enzo invites you, your friends, family, and neighbors to join him for a morning of genuine, heartfelt, sing-along family fun.
