Experience Transcendence's Broadway Holiday Spectacular

This December, Transcendence Theatre Company is back with live performances of its amazing Broadway Holiday Spectacular. We had a chance to experience the show this weekend, and it was an incredible way to get into the holiday spirit! This year's production takes place at an all-new venue, the private Belos Cavalos equestrian estate in Kenwood, an amazing, one-of-a-kind setting that made the experience a truly magical one.

The show takes place in a huge, festively decorated, big top tent with a combination of table and row seating. On your way in, take time to check out the decorated Belos Cavalos stable and visit some of the horses and goats who live there. Get there early to take in the pre-show entertainment and picnic in the tent — you can purchase food from the Tri Tip Trolley on site or bring your own. Beer and wine are sold, and you can also get coffee drinks, hot chocolate, and other goodies.

The Broadway Holiday Spectacular itself was, well, spectacular! Accompanied by a live orchestra, Transcendence's company of incredibly talented Broadway pros sang and danced their way through beloved holiday classics, including "Here Comes Santa Claus", "I'll Be Home for Christmas", "O Holy Night", "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", and "Silent Night", as well as other show-stopping numbers.

Other standouts were the hilarious "I'm Gettin' Nuthin' for Christmas" performed in the style of a '90s boy band and the Hanukkah-themed "Challaday Song" and "Sabbath Prayer". There's audience participation, too, in their Latin-tinged version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" and some of the Belos Cavalos goats even get into the act. The venue is pretty intimate and all the seats offer great sightlines to the action on stage.

It was truly amazing night and something that really started off our holiday season on high note. The singing and dancing from all the cast members was just amazing — Transcendence never fails to wow us with their shows. To be able to experience performances by these talented Broadway stars right here in the North Bay is a really special thing. The Broadway Holiday Spectacular is definitely something you have to put on your holiday "must do" list.

Performances take place at Belos Cavalos in Kenwood from December 5–13. Shows begin at 2 and 7:30 pm, depending on the day, and the doors open hours earlier so you can experience the estate, eat, have a glass of wine, and shop for holiday gifts with the marketplace vendors in the performance tent. Since it's in a tent, make sure you dress warmly; some people we saw even brought blankets.
