Family-friendly Weekend Events for March 14, 15 & 16

Friday, March 14

Bring the kids (ages 2–5) to Fantastic Fridays: Nature Detectives II, this Friday from 10 am to noon. There's another mystery to be solved at Crissy Field Center and we need you and your Toddlers help. Today we will be using all of our five senses to help Crabby the Crab find his missing shell.  To register call (415) 561-7752, or download the form at www.parksconservancy.org. The cost is $10 per child, accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

 The Mill Valley Community Center will have a Teen Zone Flashlight Egg Hunt for 6th thru 8th grades on Friday, March 14, from 7–9:30 pm. The night will start with dinner and games, then we will take out our flashlights and we're off for the great hunt!! If you find Golden Eggs you will receive special prizes! You can register for the hunt a the Mill Valley Community Center desk, deadline for registration is March 7, 2008. The cost is $12 for TZ members or $16 for non-TZ members.

Teen Wave Production presents "Cheaper By the Dozen" on Friday and Saturday 7:00 pm at the Margaret Todd Center in Novato. Tickets are $7 adults and $5 for children. The Margaret Todd Center is located at 1560 Hill Road in Novato. For more info, call (415) 899-8200.

 

Saturday, March 15

The Mill Valley Community Center will also be having a Spring Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 15. There will be a bunny breakfast from 8:30–11:30 am where you can meet Mr. E Bunny. There will also be a jump house, train rides music and more. Tickets are now available for the breakfast at the community center. Adults $6.00, children $4.00. Mr. E. Bunny will start each hunt: 10 am for ages 2 and under, and 10:15 am for ages 3–4 and ages 5–8. Three separate hunts at two different times to help the morning flow smoothly. Family Wildflower Walk, 10 am-noon: A number of native wildflowers can easily be seen on this short kid-friendly (ages 4 and up) hike. Come join us on the trail and get to know flowers like Blue-eyed grass, Ground iris, Johnny-jump up violets and Franciscan paintbrush. Put on your green shirt and bring your family to San Francisco’s 156th Annual St. Patrick Irish Parade and Celebration, which takes place the Civic Center Plaza from 10 am–5 pm on March 15. The parade itself starts at 11:30 am at 2nd and Market Streets. This is a wonderful family event that will include over 5,000 bagpipers, floats, marching bands and Irish dancers. Festivities include children’s activities, Irish culture, live performances and entertainment, and food concession stands. The Mill Valley Public Library holds its March book sale on Saturday from 9 am to 4:30 pm. There will be more than 18,000 items: gently used books including Craft books, recent fiction and biographies – of course, but also CDs and DVDs, carefully sorted and alphabetized. Bring the kids to the Bay Area Discovery Museum to see Beautiful Toy: Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Saturday at 11 am. For all ages, this highly interactive show allows the audience to dictate the outcome of the story. Register online at www.badm.org. Members $6; general $8.

 

Marin Catholic High School will present its musical production of "Cinderella" starting today. This will be a musical for the entire family.  The performance will take place at the Marin Center Showcase Theater on Thursday and Friday at 8:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm. Sunday, March 16

Well-known family entertainer Enzo Garcia performs at the Mill Valley Golf Course Clubhouse every Sunday from 10 am to noon. Enzo invites you, your friends, family, and neighbors to join him for a morning of genuine, heartfelt, sing-along, family fun. He'll bring his banjo, accordion, guitar, musical saw and other surprises. All you need are clapping hands, singing voices and dancing feet.
