Friday, March 28

Movies at the Model: Foul Play and Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, 7 to 9 pm. Movies are presented by Sausalito Parks & Recreation along with the Bay Model Visitor Center. Bring the family, eat popcorn, and enjoy a relaxing evening. Kids are welcome to wear PJs, bring a blanket, and cozy up to their own, age-appropriate film. Refreshments are sold at the concession stand. Free; sponsored by Peg Copple & Associates. Chaperones are present in the kids’ theatre. There will be a Family Campfire this Saturday, March 29 from 5 to 7 pm at the Crissy Field Amphitheater in San Francisco. Celebrate the wonder of the spring season with an outdoor campfire. Join them for storytelling and merriment as we watch the sunset in the West. They’ll be making s'mores and sip hot cider by the fire. Meet at the Crissy Field Amphitheater, located near the Warming Hut. Rain cancels; phone for program status. Pre-registration is recommended. Drop-ins are also accepted on a space-available basis. Saturday, March 29

All Aboard! It's Family Fun Day at Marin History Museum on Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. Trains are running again in San Rafael where the Marin History Museum is hosting an imaginative outdoor display of a model railroad. The Bay Area Garden Railroad Society, and the San Rafael Public Library are partnering with the museum to create a day for families and train enthusiasts to enjoy at Boyd Memorial Park. Activities include: running model trains, blue grass music, museum treasure hunt, train stories, ice cream, family photos, and children’s crafts. Discover the rich, local history of Marin through its connection to the steam powered trains and ferries of the Industrial Age, and the innovations that followed. The Bay Area Discovery Museum presents Frank and the Wolf: TOZZI Puppets on Saturday at 11 am. Pages of a very large book are turned to introduce each new character of the puppet play Frank and the Wolf, presented by TOZZI Puppets. Music from Prokofiev's famous composition, Peter and the Wolf, combined with storytelling and puppets, large and small, keep the children engaged in an interactive playful presentation. Fly on over to the Conservatory of Flowers this spring because the butterflies are back. The popular exhibit "The Butterfly Zone" returns to San Francisco's beloved greenhouse. The exhibit is a unique opportunity to walk amongst a wide variety of brightly colored blossoms while free-flying butterflies flit from flower to flower, drinking nectar and getting covered in pollen. Visitors can see a dazzling array of more than 25 species. The exhibit is open Saturday and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm and is included with admission to the Conservatory ($5 general; $3 youth 12–17, seniors and students with ID; $1.50 children 5–11; children 4 and under free. Parents and their 4 to 5-year-old children are invited to participate in the first-ever Marin Humane Society Critter Crafts series for parents and tots starting on March 29. This Saturday’s session will include Delightful Dogs. This event is for parents and their tots. Cost is $45 for three consecutive Saturday sessions. To register, please call (415) 506-6288. Well-known family entertainer Enzo Garcia performs at the Mill Valley Golf Course Clubhouse every Sunday from 10 am to noon. Enzo invites you, your friends, family, and neighbors to join him for a morning of genuine, heartfelt, sing-along family fun. He'll bring his banjo, accordion, guitar, musical saw, and other surprises. All you need are clapping hands, singing voices and dancing feet. International Cultural Family Funday - FREE to the public on March 30 at the Strawberry Recreation Center from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Cultural Care Au Pair, an organization dedicated to providing intercultural childcare and educational exchange, will host an event bringing together au pairs and families from throughout the Bay Area to enjoy a day of ethnic foods, music, dancing and crafts.
