Weekend Family-fun for April 4, 5 & 6

Friday, April 4

  • The Snell Children’s Fundraiser Day at Playtime Safari will be on Friday from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. Playtime Safari is donating 50% of the proceeds from admissions on this day to The Snell Children's Fund. Come play in the bounce house, tents, crafts corner, train table, and Dusty's Puppets will be performing at 10:30am. Playtime Safari is located at 5470 Nave Drive in Novato.   • Breakfast with Enzo! presents a weekly family folk music sing-along for ages 0-5 with 2 different set of music at 10 and 11 am. at the Presidio Dance Theatre  Enzo will entertain the kids with his banjo, accordion, musical saw, guitar, and countless other instruments for a morning of singing and dancing.   • Bring the kids (ages 2–5) to “Fantastic Fridays: Food for Thought", this Friday from 10 am to noon at the Crissy Field Center. Explore different cultures through your sense of taste and boost your toddler’s brain power with some cultural food for thought. Go on a hike to find the Presidio Wonton Woman for tips on making your own yummy treats; then come back to wrap some yummy wontons, roll up some organic fruit and vegetable sushi, and put together your own fruit and yogurt burrito! Saturday, April 5

  • Find a bargain at the Marin Kids Consignment sale this Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, at Playtime Safari, located at 5470 Nave Drive in Novato. Come and shop for baby, toddler, and maternity clothes. For more information on the sale and consigning clothing, visit www.marinkidsconsignment.com.
  • Bring the family out to Point Reyes for a Wildflower Walk every Saturday and Sunday through April 26. Abbotts Lagoon, Chimney Rock, and Tomales Point are great locations to find wildflowers in bloom during the late winter and early spring. Join a ranger to learn more. Wildflower Walks usually last 1.5 hours and may require walking up to two miles. Come prepared for inclement weather. Wear hiking boots or other footwear suitable for hiking. Bring a liter of water per person. Check at a visitor center or call (415) 464-5100 x2 x5 on the day of the Wildflower Walk to find out where to meet. Free.
  • Creative Minds Think Alike! Join Bay Model Park Ranges and volunteers on Saturday from 10 am to noon for a morning of creative thinking and hands-on fun. They will have hands-on activities that help to explain the complex ecosystem. Crafts/prop materials will be provided. For more info, contact Keley Stock at (415) 332-3871.   • The Bay Area Discovery Museum presents a workshop Science by the Bay Series: Boat Building, this Saturday from 3-4:30 pm. This drop-in activitiy is free with museum admission; (adults $8.50, children $7.50, seniors  62+ $6.50 and children under 1 and members are free). For more info, go to www.badm.org.
  • Parents and their 4 to 5-year-old children are invited to participate in the first-ever Marin Humane Society Critter Crafts series. This Saturday’s session is called Curious Cats and runs from 10 to 11 am. Spend a "purrfect" morning meeting a cuddly cat, reading a story about cats, and making a fun cat card.   • Fly on over to the Conservatory of Flowers this spring because the butterflies are back. The popular exhibit "The Butterfly Zone" returns to San Francisco's beloved greenhouse. The exhibit is a unique opportunity to walk amongst a wide variety of brightly colored blossoms while free-flying butterflies flit from flower to flower, drinking nectar and getting covered in pollen. Visitors can see a dazzling array of more than 25 species. The exhibit is open Saturday and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm and is included with admission to the Conservatory ($5 general; $3 youth 12–17, seniors and students with ID; $1.50 children 5-11; children 4 and under free. Sunday, April 6

  • Family entertainer Enzo Garcia performs at the Mill Valley Golf Course Clubhouse every Sunday from 10 am to noon. Enzo invites you, your friends, family, and neighbors to join him for a morning of genuine, heartfelt, sing-along family fun. He'll bring his banjo, accordion, guitar, musical saw, and other surprises. All you need are clapping hands, singing voices and dancing feet.
