Real Good Greens and Seed Releaf Team Up to Feed Families During COVID

Mill Valley-based Real Good Greens assembles CSA-style produce boxes that, along with artisanal add-on items like bread and eggs, are delivered farm-to-doorstep weekly to communities all over the Bay Area. The goal of Real Good Greens is to support a healthy local food system by encouraging consumers to shop small, locally, and seasonally.

Real Good Greens was founded in April at the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic to support local Bay Area independent organic farms affected by local restaurant closures. Theses COVID-related restaurant closures had a catastrophic effect on our local farms, who typically sell exclusively or mostly to restaurants and now needed help to find new ways to sell their products quickly and efficiently.

Real Good Greens recently teamed up with Marin-based non-profit, SeedReleaf.org. Also founded during COVID, Seed Releaf donates nutritious plant-based meals to those in our community that need it most: community members affected by COVID-19, Northern California firefighters, and families affected by the recent wildfires.

Earlier this month, Seed Releaf and Real Good Greens hosted a team building event at the Marin City Rec Center to build 50 farm boxes that were donated to the kids and families of PLAYMarin.org, accompanied by an educational session on the healthy benefits of the produce and tips and recipes that the kids could bring home to share with their families. Marin Citybased PLAY Marin was founded by Paul Austin with the goal of closing the activity gap in Marin City while promoting diversity and inclusion throughout Marin County.

Seed Releaf, PLAY Marin, and Real Good Greens plan to continue the partnership by hosting weekly COVID-friendly corporate team building community events. If you or your company is interested in learning more about how you can get involved or hosting a team building event, reach out to Ilyse Wasserman (ilyse@seedreleaf.org) or Helene Zahoudanis (helene@realgoodgreens.com).
