Weekend Family Events for March 21, 22, and 23

Friday, March 21

Bring the kids (ages 2–5) to “Fantastic Fridays: Wind and Solar Energy Extravaganza,” this Friday from 10 am to noon. Take advantage of bright sunlight and the strong westerly winds from the Golden Gate. Make pinwheel that’ll spin in the spring breeze, relax with cup of solar tea, or make a sundial. Go on a short hike to witness the different things that depend on solar and wind power. To register call (415) 561-7752, or download the form at www.parksconservancy.org. The cost is $10 per child, accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Saturday, March 22

Bring the family to the annual Alice in Wonderland Spring Faire at the beautiful Falkirk Cultural Center grounds in San Rafael on Saturday at 2 pm. See our feature on this event here.

The Bay Area Discovery Museum presents a Jazz Family Matinee Concert featuring Dmitri Matheny Group with special Guest Jon Jang on Saturday at 11 am. Swing Into Spring with the Dmitri Matheny Group! In their first appearance since their sold-out winter production of The SnowCat, Matheny and his all-star jazz band (including special guest composer/pianist Jon Jang) will present the premier of an all-new springtime show for kids and families. Bothin Marsh Ranger Hike on Saturday from noon to 2 pm. Hike the nature trail through Bothin Marsh in Sausalito with Ranger Linda Holm. Birds and wetland plants change with the tides and the seasons. Get familiar with the local residents and migratory species of this beautiful biodiverse wetland community to the east of Richardson Bay. The trail is 2 miles (4 miles round trip). Sunday, March 23

Well-known family entertainer Enzo Garcia performs at the Mill Valley Golf Course Clubhouse every Sunday from 10 am to noon. Enzo invites you, your friends, family, and neighbors to join him for a morning of genuine, heartfelt, sing-along family fun. He'll bring his banjo, accordion, guitar, musical saw, and other surprises. All you need are clapping hands, singing voices and dancing feet.
