Hands-on Fun for Fall at Slide Ranch

Slide Ranch is a wonderful place for everyone in the family. We tried out one of their family farm days in the past and my kids had a great time petting the sheep, planting seeds, milking a goat, and making nature crafts. They offer guided tours and lots of hands-on activities, including collecting eggs from chickens, planting seeds, sampling from their organic garden, learning to make crafts and food just like the early farmers, and exploring the nearby tide pools.

Slide Ranch is located off of Shoreline Highway in Muir Beach. Here is a list of their upcoming events for fall, 2016. Their programs do fill up quickly, especially popular ones like the fso you need to plan ahead if you are interested in participating. Register for programs online at www.slideranch.org.

Friday Night Slide

Come see what evenings are like at Slide Ranch. Enjoy a delicious catered dinner and then explore the ranch's nature trails and participate in family-friendly events in this evening program. Bring headlamps or flashlights. Activities offered will be for kids of all ages. Adults can BYOB. Cost: $60 per adult, $40 per child, including dinner; free for children 35 months under.

Toddler Days

Enjoy experiencing the farm and gardens through your child’s eyes. Experience milking a goat, holding a warm egg from a chicken, and exploring the farm. Activities are toddler age appropriate, but all ages welcome. The Halloween Family Farm Day includes making costumes with recycled materials, face painting, taking a spooky tour of the Slide Ranch garden, investigating our worm compost, and cooking up some tasty treats in our outdoor kitchen. Toddlers will get a chance to practice trick-or-treating around the ranch. Costumes are welcome and encouraged! Cost: $25 per person; children 23 months and under free. Register here.

Fall Family Farm Day

This Family Farm Day will take you on a journey through the full food cycle from seed to meal, and we'll also look at some food traditions from around the world. Help fire up the outdoor cob oven to bake bread and make butter from scratch. You'll enjoy exploring the organic garden, meeting farm animals, milking goats and more. Cost: $25 per person; children 35 months and under are free. Register here.

Fall Family Campout 2016

Slide Ranch's Family Campouts are special overnight trips for the whole family featuring farm activities, crafts, and nature exploration. Enjoy a potluck dinner on Saturday night, and gather round the campfire for stories and songs, then set up camp in a spectacular coastal meadow under the stars! On Sunday everyone helps with farm work before enjoying a continental breakfast, then makes and bakes treats harvested from the organic garden. The rustic campsite is a 1/3-mile walk from the parking area. Wheelbarrows are availble to help haul your gear. Cost: $80 per person; children 23 months and under free.
