The Day the Flying Fortress Flew into the Rising Sun

This event is expired.

Weather conditions at Hamilton Army Airfield were favorable and 12 B-17s set off to fuel up at Hickam Field in Oahu right next to Pearl Harbor, unbeknownst to Japanese Admiral Yamamoto. A few hours later on Sunday, December 7, 1941, unbeknownst to the US airmen, Admiral Yamamoto gave the command that launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Can you imagine their shock when they encountered one another? Learn more from US Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger Linda Holm. We will tour the museum and walk over to the lookout in the area where the runway used to be and hear the rest of the story. The program is free but donations are gladly accepted.
