Holiday Lights: The Presidio’s Traditional Tree-Lighting

The Presidio's Traditional Tree-Lighting Ceremony

This event is expired.

Presidio Community YMCA
63 Funston Ave
San Francisco, CA 94129

Enjoy the Presidio’s historic holiday tree for the entire month and join us at the Main Post across from the Presidio Community Y (corner of Lincoln and Funston) for our holiday tree lighting. The event starts at 5 pm; the tree lighting starts at 6 pm sharp.

Since 1991, the now 55-foot-tall Norfolk Island pine in the Presidio has glowed with lights starting on the first Friday evening in December. The tradition of tree lighting at the former US Army base began even earlier, in 1957, when families who lived and worked in the Presidio came by to light the tree and kick off the holiday season. Holiday Lights continued when the Presidio opened its gates to all as a national park 27 years ago.

Looking to do some holiday shopping and support the park? Drop by the Presidio Visitor Center before the tree lighting and fill your holiday stocking with special discounts on retail, open 10 am to 5 pm daily.
