Habitat Restoration plus Guided Nature Walk

Wednesday, Dec 29

9:00 a.m. to noon

The survival of Mt. Tamalpais’ oak woodlands, chaparral and grasslands are currently being threatened by fire suppression, drought, Sudden Oak Death, and other large-scale changes. You can help us protect the health of the mountain by joining our habitat restoration project! During this project, volunteers remove French broom to increase the diversity of valuable plants and animal wildlife on the watershed. This two-hour habitat restoration activity is followed by a guided nature walk led by our biodiversity intern, who will share his knowledge and appreciation for such water-loving creatures as salamanders, frogs, fungi and lichen!

Family friendly! Meeting location is Lake Lagunitas parking lot at 9am sharp! Parking passes provided to volunteers. If you have questions, contact volunteerprogram@marinwater.org or 415-945-1128. Minors under the age of 16 must have a guardian present. Those ages 16-18 must have a signed permission form. Please bring a water bottle, closed toe shoes and clothes for variable weather. We will provide tools and instruction.

Per Marin County COVID-19 Status Update for November 1, 2021 masks are not required outdoors. Volunteers will receive sanitized tools and gloves; no tools will be shared. Staff will emphasize what a minimum distance of six feet looks like and why social distancing is important to maintain throughout the program. Volunteers must bring their own water
