Join us for Storytime Science—a storybook read-aloud followed by a simple related activity geared toward very young children. This month, join in as the Exploratorium's own Vivan Altmann reads Ada Twist, Scientist, by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts.

Then: What are bubble cells? They're what happens when you mix paint and bubble solution and make a print of the result!

For this activity, you'll need:

4 oz. or more of liquid tempera paint (watercolor and nontoxic); dark colors work best
1/4 c. dishwashing liquid
a pie tin
a straw
a sheet of paper (white construction paper is best, but regular white paper will do)

This activity can get a little messy, so have a grown-up assistant at hand and wear play clothes—nothing fancy.
