San Francisco Performances is proud to present one of America's foremost American choreographers and dance companies of the 20th century - the Paul Taylor Dance Company. For more than twenty of its astonishing sixty-one years defining American modern dance, the Paul Taylor Dance Company has made San Francisco Performances its second home with regular engagements featuring new work and revivals of important Taylor masterpieces. Their Spring 2015 season - comprised of three programs of ten works spanning 1961 to 2014 - includes two San Francisco premieres and a West Coast Premiere, and will take place April 15-19 at YBCA Theater. This is the fourteenth time San Francisco Performances has presented the company.
Paul Taylor has made 140 dances since the beginning of his choreography career (1954) and has created some of the most innovative dances over the past 50 years - his subject matter has often been about war, spirituality, sexuality, morality and mortality.
"I want to lift the audience to the miraculous in human nature. After all, we shouldn't be here, with all the odds against us in nature. It's kind of unusual and wonderful!" - Paul Taylor
