Saxophonist/pianist, composer and educator Jeff Derby has been an active member of the Bay Area jazz scene since 2006 after graduating with honors from Sonoma State University with B.A.s in Jazz Studies, Music Education and a single-subject teaching credential. Jeff has been fortunate enough to play at close to 90 different venues in the Bay Area with many great Bay Area jazz figures. He also teaches middle school music in Marin County. Jeff draws inspiration from different jazz musicians and composers such as Kenny Garrett, Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Michael Brecker, Thelonious Monk, Chick Corea, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner, Horace Silver and Wayne Shorter. Joining Jeff at the Country Mart will be friends and accomplished musicians: Casey Cameron, Noah Schenker and Alex Aspinall.
