Food waste and food recovery are brought to life in the award-winning documentary Just Eat It. Filmmakers Jen and Grant dive into the issue of waste from farm, through retail, all the way to their own fridge. After learning that billions of dollars of edible food are wasted each year (40% of all food in the U.S. is wasted) they quit grocery shopping and survive only on food that would otherwise be thrown away. Just Eat It reveals the devastating consequences of food waste around the globe. The film will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Doug McConnell, Marin environmentalist and host of Bay Area Backroads and OpenRoad on NBC-TV; and panelists Congressman Jared Huffman; national food waste expert, author and Senior Scientist Dana Gunders of the Natural Resources Defense Council; and ExtraFood Founder Marv Zauderer.
Presented by Sausalito Film Series, proceeds will benefit ExtraFood, a nonprofit dedicated to ending food waste and hunger in Marin County.
