Book Groups discuss "Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy" and "The Meaning of Maggie"

This event is expired.
Diesel, A Bookstore in Larkspur welcomes kids and parents to the store for our Reading Together Book Groups on Sunday, September 28th at 2pm and 4pm.
The first group, for kids ages 8-10, is reading Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy by Karen Foxlee, and will meet at 2pm. Ophelia Jane Worthington-Whittard and her sister are still grieving over their mother’s passing when their father takes a job in a strange museum in a city where it always snows. Already a young skeptic, Ophelia doesn’t believe anything you can’t prove by science. But when she discovers a boy locked away in a long forgotten room of the museum, she embarks on an incredible journey to help rescue him from the grip of Her Majesty, the Snow Queen, and along the way discover the power of friendship, courage, and love.
The second group, for kids ages 10-12, is reading The Meaning of Maggie by Megan Jean Sovern, and will meet at 4pm. Maggie Mayfield is an A-plus student with big plans. She’s turning eleven, and that means there is a lot to do. But maybe this time winning Student of the Month (again) doesn’t matter as much as making a new friend, or having a crush on the beautiful new boy, or learning why her cool-dude dad is in a wheelchair, why he had to quit his job, or what she can do to fix him. One thing she is going to find out: the truth is big and complicated.
Reading Together is a special kind of book group designed to bring together kids and parents through, you guessed it, books! Once a month, we'll get together and discuss a book that you have each read.
