Crowden's annual Community Music Day is a FREE musical carnival for the entire family!
Join us at Crowden on Sunday, October 19, 10am to 3pm for a festive day of music-making.
Featuring:
* Instrument Petting Zoo
Kids and adults alike explore, touch, and learn to make sounds on all the different instruments in a symphony orchestra, with the help of our young Crowden student Zookeepers! We even have special miniature string instruments for tiny hands and fingers.'
* Very First Concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra! "A One and a Two: Adventures in Counting"
San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and Crowden Music Center encourage audiences to get up and dance in Very First Concerts, a classical series designed with the youngest listeners in mind.
One two three four, what is the rhythm that we’re tapping on the floor? If you can count to four, or even if you can’t, come let the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra teach you how important numbers are in music. Patterns build into structures, and divide into details. Twos, threes, and fours swirl around each other with every note. The conductor must count; the musicians must count; and we’ll teach you to count too!
Each concert features a central theme, short selections, tumbling mats for fidgety toddlers, and hands-on musical activities geared toward families with young children (infants to 7 year-olds).
Repeat performances at 10:40am, 11:20am, & 12:00pm.
* Class demonstrations
Family members of all ages can sing, dance, move, and drum together in our short class demonstrations.
* Instrument making
Construct your own instruments to make music at home with!
* "Chill" room
Relax from the crowds in the “chill” room, where we’ll show music-related movies.
