Community Music Day
This event is expired.
Crowden invites Bay Area families to attend its 16th annual Community Music Day-join us for musical fun throughout the day! Community Music Day, Crowden's largest outreach event of the year, is free for the entire community.
Featuring Crowden's ever-popular Instrument Petting Zoo, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, San Francisco Girls Chorus, East Bay Music Together, and more!
Festivities include:
Instrument Petting Zoo
Kids and adults alike explore, touch, and learn to make sounds on all the different instruments in a symphony orchestra, with the help of our young Crowden student Zookeepers! We even have special miniature string instruments for tiny hands and fingers.
Very First Concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra
This year's Very First Concerts theme is "Meet the Woodwinds!" What makes the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn so special? We'll teach you! Meet our musicians and learn about the reeds, keys, knobs, and tubes that make all the magic happen. Each concert features a central theme, short selections, tumbling mats for fidgety toddlers, and hands-on musical activities geared toward families with young children (infants to 7 year-olds). Repeat performances 10:40am, 11:20am, & 12:00pm.
Class demonstrations
Family members of all ages can sing, dance, move, and drum together in short class demos from Crowden and East Bay Music Together.
Instrument making
Construct your own instruments to make music at home with!
"Chill" room
Relax from the crowds in the "chill" room, where we'll show music-related movies.
