The Early Weeks with Jackie Davey & O'Nell Starkey

This event is expired.

Prepare for a confident and connected postpartum experience with this two-day workshop (September 10 & 24), designed for both parents to take prenatally in the second or third trimester. $280/pair

Jackie Davey and O'Nell Starkey have created two cutting-edge classes that take a holistic look at what to expect at home with a newborn (or two!). As doulas, Jackie and O'Nell know that caring for the whole family - the parents and their newborn - creates a firm foundation for everyone to thrive together well beyond the fourth trimester. They will share tools for nourishing yourself, your partnership, and your body after the birth. You will get to practice hands-on newborn care from a framework of attunement and respect for your baby’s experience.

You will feel confident and prepared for early parenthood with this comprehensive workshop.

Class One: Newborn Care - Infant awareness, communication & behavior, bathing, swaddling, soothing techniques, crying, developmental play & bonding, finding your parenting style, sleep rhythms, baby-wearing basics, diapering options: cloth, disposable, or none at all! Class 1 is 4 hours.
Class Two: Self-Care, Relationship Care, and Breastfeeding - Support team planning, care for your recovering body, communication skills, intimacy & sexuality, understanding partner's needs, postpartum mood disorders, breastfeeding/chestfeeding, bottle feeding & formulas, pumps & pumping. Class 2 is 4 hours.

Jackie Pales is a doula and an educator for Doula Trainings International and most recently became a mom herself to a spunky little girl. Her passion lies in facilitating a warm nurturing environment for new parents to cultivate their own unique parenting style.

O’Nell Starkey is a postpartum doula, infant massage instructor, breastfeeding specialist, and mother. She has a degree in holistic early childhood education and has spent the past decade supporting families in the perinatal period.
