San Francisco Performances Family Matinee Series is designed to bring together audiences of all ages an accessible, affordable, and interactive experience with the world's top music and dance artists. For this concert, we invited the exquisite duo Jennifer Koh and Shai Wosner. Violinist Jennifer Koh has shared her love of music with children in classrooms as well as concert stages, in the belief that music is a universal language that can bridge many differences. She and pianist Shai Wosner demonstrate the range of styles and expressions available to their instruments, from Beethoven to music written just for them by their friends.
Violinist Jennifer Koh is recognized for her intense, commanding performances, delivered with dazzling virtuosity and technical assurance. With an impassioned musical curiosity, she is dedicated to performing the violin repertoire of all eras from traditional to contemporary, believing that the past and present form a continuum. Ms. Koh has appeared with major orchestras including New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, BBC London Symphony, Singapore Symphony, among many others.
Pianist Shai Wosner has attracted international recognition for his exceptional artistry, musical integrity and creative insight. His performances of a broad range of repertoire, from Beethoven and Mozart to Schoenberg and Ligeti, as well as music by his contemporaries, communicate his imaginative programming and intellectual curiosity. Mr. Wosner has appeared with major orchestras worldwide including the Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic,and San Francisco Symphony in the US, and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and LSO St. Luke's, among others.
