Free Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra Sit-In Concert

This event is expired.

The MSYO's annual Sit-In Concert is a beloved annual tradition that has introduced generations of young Marin residents to the joys of orchestral music. Audience members are encouraged to sit beside and in between the orchestral musicians to experience up-close how the various instruments are played. In addition to observing and learning about the four families of instruments, concert attendees will enjoy hearing a range of repertoire from Classical and Romantic masterworks to pop hits and movie soundtracks.

Aspiring young conductors will learn how to wave the baton and even have a chance to ascend the podium to conduct the orchestra on John Phillip Sousa's march, The Stars and Stripes Forever! MSYO musicians will be on hand after the concert to assist all concertgoers in trying out string, wind, brass and percussion instruments during the ever-popular Instrument Petting Zoo, sponsored by The Magic Flute music store. The Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra Sit-In concert and Instrument Petting Zoo are free and open to the public.
