Hike to Dawn Falls in Baltimore Canyon

This event is expired.
Enjoy a FREE day of discovery and learning out in nature with the family. WildCare naturalists will lead fun family outings with the objective of deepening our commitment to taking care of our planet.
This easy hike through a lovely wooded canyon follows the Larkspur Creek and ends up at Dawn Falls. Some redwoods are making a comeback after being completely logged in the 1850’s in the building of San Francisco. Now the canyon is shaded by a mix of madrones, bay laurels, big-leaf maple, and Douglas fir. On the ground we can look for fetid adder’s tongue, milkmaids, and trillium. We will also look for signs of young Steelheads and Pacific Giant Salamanders around the creek and for Pileated Woodpeckers and Chipmunks up and around the trees.
YOU MUST RSVP IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE!! Contact Marco (415) 453 1000 ext. 17 or marco@wildcarebayarea.org to RSVP.
Getting There: From Highway 101, take Tamalpais Drive exit heading west. Right on Corte Madera/Magnolia Avenue. Left on Madrone. Continue to dead end of Madrone. We will meet where the trailhead starts on your left.
