Children for Change, CFI Education and ExtraFood.org present the provocative, award-winning documentary "Just Eat It" at the Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael. The film focuses on the social and environmental problem of food waste and will be followed by a panel discussion with local leaders active in reducing hunger and food waste in Marin.

Did you know that we throw out over 153 billion pounds of food each year? After learning about the billions of dollars of good food that is thrown away each year, filmmakers Jen Rustenmeyer and Grant Baldwin pledged to quit grocery shopping and survive only on foods that would otherwise have been thrown away. "Just Eat It" brings farmers, retailers, activists, industry experts and consumers together to explore our obsession with expiration dates, perfect produce and portion sizes and reveals that this issue is having devastating consequences throughout North America. Tickets on sale now.  Appropriate for ages 10 and up. A portion of the program’s proceeds will support the efforts of ExtraFood.org, a non-profit, county-wide food recovery program in Marin, and Children for Change, a non-profit connecting Marin children with our community by doing service for others.
