This event is expired.

CANCELLED

Join us on a ranger-led hike as we explore how and why Mount Burdell came to look the way it does today. We’ll focus on the geology and mass movements that have shaped the mountain then we’ll take a look at three different quarry sites from different time periods. This event is ideal for all ages. Degree of difficulty: Moderate to strenuous. Wear comfortable athletic clothing and sturdy shoes. Don’t forget to bring water and lunch. We will provide extra water and healthy snacks. Friendly dogs are welcome, but must be leashed. Rain or heavy winds will cancel. Meet at the end of Butterfield in Novato. DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 101 in Novato, take the exit for San Marin Dr west, follow San Marin Dr .25 miles, turn right on Redwood Dr and then left onto Woodhollow drive (0.3 mi.). Turn left onto Fieldstone drive (0.6mi.) then right onto Butterfield, follow to end (dead end).
