Celebrate the 50th anniversay of the Apollo 11 moon landing and all things outer space at the 8th annual Novato Space Festival at the Pacheco Plaza shopping center. This fun and educational family event is presented by the Space Station Museum and takes place Sunday, August 4 from 10 am to 4 pm at the museum and on Pacheco Plaza's Center Stage. Admission and parking are free! Over 9,000 people attended this event in 2018!

Meet real astronauts including Al Worden, who participated in the Apollo 15 moon mission; shuttle crew members Dan Bursch, Steve Smith, and Millie Hughes-Fulford; and Novato's own shuttle astronaut Yvonne Cagle. Families with children 12 an under will get early admission at 9:30 am.

In addition to meeting legendary astronauts and aerospace experts, visitors will also get a chance to check out a variety of different interactive space exhibits and demonstrations, as well as the Space Station Museum's exhibits.

Due to the popularity of this event, there will be overflow parking and a free shuttle at Pell Plaza at 504 Redwood Boulevard. It's a short 5-minute ride from Pacheco Plaza and the Space Festival.

If you haven't been to the Space Station Museum in Novato, it's really worth the trip. It's a wonderful free educational resource where kids can learn about space exploration in a hands-on environment. Objects on view at the museum are part of the collection of the W Foundation, a non-profit founded by Ken Winans and his wife Debbie Wreyford-Winans, and include American, Russian, and Soviet-era space equipment, clothing, photographs, a meteorite, and more.
