Barnes & Noble Corte Madera Announces Free September Storytime Lineup
Storytimes Celebrate The Day the Crayons Quit, the 50th Anniversary of Where the Wild Things Are, Curious George's Curiosity Day and More
Barnes & Noble Corte Madera’s September lineup of free Storytime events for children and families is designed to celebrate the joy of reading, creativity and fun! The events center around the popular children’s books Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak; Curious George by H.A. Rey; The Elf on the Shelf: A Birthday Party!; and The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers.
Where the Wild Things Are – On Saturday, September 13 at 11a.m., B&N Corte Madera will host a free Storytime celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Maurice Sendak’s classic tale, Where the Wild Things Are. The special anniversary edition of Where the Wild Things Are is available for only $8.99 (regular price $18.99) with the purchase of any children’s book until October 31. Kids will go wild for the fun activities, too!
Llama, Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney – On Tuesday, September 16 at 11a.m., B&N Corte Madera will host a free Storytime featuring Llama, Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney and The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt & Oliver Jeffers. Peach is embarrassed without a wrapper and doesn’t want to come out of the box and color. After Storytime, children will get the chance to create fancy new wardrobe ideas for Peach using all the Crayons in an effort to make Peach feel confident and comfortable.
Curious George's Curiosity Day – On Saturday, September 20 at 11a.m., B&N will celebrate the mischievous monkey Curious George with Curiosity Day. This fun-filled family event will highlight childhood curiosity and a love of learning with a reading of the classic Curious George title, activities and giveaways.
Skippyjon Jones in Mummy Trouble by Judy Schachner – On Tuesday, September 23 at 11a.m., B&N Corte Madera will host a free Storytime featuring Skippyjon Jones in Mummy Trouble by Judy Schachner and The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt & Oliver Jeffers. The feud between Yellow and Orange over the true color of the sun has gone on too long. Green is requesting help in resolving their conflict. After Storytime, children will show Yellow and Orange all the wonderful things they can be, helping them realize they can, in fact, share the color of the sun!
The Elf on the Shelf: A Birthday Party! On Saturday, September 27 at 11a.m., B&N will host a birthday party celebrating everyone’s favorite holiday hero -- The Elf on the Shelf! Kids miss their elf friends so much that Santa has allowed them to visit on a child’s birthday. B&N will celebrate all children with September birthdays at this fun Storytime with birthday-themed activities.
“Will the Crayons Quit?” Storytime – On Tuesday, September 30 at 4p.m., B&N Corte Madera will host a free Storytime, where participants will enjoy Daywalt’s and Jeffers’ popular picture book, march in a parade supporting the Crayons, and discover if the thousands of messages from kids in their community and nationwide worked as they experience the joy colors bring to life!
