Terra Marin School (TMS), a private K-8th grade school in Mill Valley and newly opened this Fall, is a special addition to Marin's educational landscape as it brings together a unique and progressive set of offerings into one effective and highly focused program. TMS, led by a highly qualified team of teachers and mentors, guides its students through a diverse, holistic and effective educational model focused primarily on the healthy social, emotional and physical growth of its students. TMS provides a place where each child feels known and celebrated for his/her unique strengths and where each student feels safe to be him/herself, try new things and be challenged. Terra Mandarin Preschool- Nurturing the Infinite Capabilities of Young Children

Terra Mandarin Preschool (TMP) is a Mandarin Immersion Reggio Emilia inspired preschool and TK program in Mill Valley. TMP's teachers weave the children’s interests into a curriculum that has purposeful progression through project-based learning. While the children learn through play and feel nurtured and connected with their teachers and fellow classmates, they are also being immersed in a new language, Mandarin. All activities are conducted in Mandarin by native speakers who teach the children about this new culture, giving them a more global perspective of the world. Additionally, once a week, preschool students spend the morning outside the classroom in nature with an earth educator exploring the beauty of their surroundings and learning more about their role and place in it. The importance of a language immersion program at this young age has been researched and shows that it greatly increases the chances of fluency later in life. Scores of studies show the cognitive benefits of being bilingual as it increases critical thinking skills, creativity, and flexibility of thought. Terra Mandarin will be the first of its kind in Marin. The combination of the highly regarded Reggio Emilia approach, Mandarin immersion and the highly specialized outdoor Earth Education component, makes Terra Mandarin Preschool a unique and extremely special addition to the educational landscape here in Marin.
