The Tortoise and the Hare

This event is expired.

Come see the steadfast Tortoise and the madcap Hare race to the finish line and Old Stormalong take on the steamship live on stage. Two folktales theatrically performed by two professional actors with physical comedy, American Sign Language and audience participation. Free but seating is limited. The show is open to all ages and begins at 4:00.

The first 12 kids, age 6 and up, are invited to put on costumes and play a role in the show by attending a pre-show workshop with the performers. The pres-how rehearsal/acting workshop begins promptly at 3:30, no experience necessary.

Act!vated Story Theatre has been touring the continental United States non-stop since 1988, to provide audiences of all ages with theatrical entertainment that educates. Their shows encourage students to read and learn about the world around them. This will be their 11th appearance at the Belvedere-Tiburon Library since 2002.

Additional performances at the libraries in Atherton, San Leandro, Tracy and 13 Stanislaus County Libraries this April. Check http://activatedstorytheatre.com/schedule.html for details.

“Their performances transport the viewer to another place and time. My girls love being a part of the show or in the audience and learning the real version behind the fairy tale.” says Ammy Hanson, President of the PLA at Plew Elementary, Niceville, FL. “They enjoy seeing all the different props made out of ordinary household object being used for something new and creative. Seeing the re-purposing has inspired my children to re-purpose and recycle many objects around our home.”
